What's New
Bridgestone to start Construction
of its 2nd Production Site
for Aircraft Radial Tires

Ground-Breaking Ceremony was held
at Bridgestone's Tokyo Plant.

Tokyo (May 25, 2007) – On May 24, 2007, Bridgestone Corporation held a ground-breaking ceremony at its Tokyo plant, which will serve as the site for the second production facility for radial aircraft tires. The event was reminiscent of a traditional Japanese ceremony known as "Jichin-sai", intended to foster a safe and successful period of construction. With the conclusion of this ceremony, work on the new facility commenced immediately.

The new Tokyo facility will provide for a significant increase in total radial unit capacity, allowing Bridgestone to meet a growing global demand for radial aircraft tires. In addition, the new Tokyo facility, being separate from the Kurume aircraft tire plant, will offer assurance of continued production, as we eliminate dependence on a single site.

Production at the new Tokyo facility will begin in the second half of 2008.
